We were honored to help these four student-athletes celebrate a major milestone in their youth soccer careers. We’re proud of their accomplishments and look forward to following their collegiate careers in the years to come.
Congratulations Alexis, Ashley, Mariah, and Sydney!
Alexis Berlin | University of Hawaii, Hilo
Ashley Franza | University of Northern Colorado
Mariah Jackson | University of Nevada, Reno
Sydney Wilson | Holy Names University
The event was attended by their family, friends, teammates, and SRFC coaches, staff, and board members.
Girls Technical Director Zlatko Tomic opened the event with a few words about the players and the girls' competitive program at San Ramon FC.
Coach Luke Enna spoke next, fondly recounting his experiences coaching Sydney Wilson over the years.
Coach Andy Mittler followed and shared his memories of coaching his three former players, Ashley Franza, Mariah Jackson, and Alexis Berlin, whom he kindly referred to by her nickname, “Shorty.”
The players’ current coach, Jon Lipsitz, was credited with helping these four players in their continuing development.
Travis Clarke, our College Services Coordinator, was also credited with helping the players and their families during the college recruiting process.
Neither Jon nor Travis could attend this event because both are currently coaches of collegiate soccer programs and NCAA rules prevent them from doing so.
All in attendance applauded as the four young women signed their letters of intent with big smiles. Each of the players received a gift from our club, a college sweatshirt of their new school.
Thanks to all who helped plan the event and many thanks to those who attended and helped support our student-athletes over the years as they worked toward this accomplishment!
February 7, 2018
On February 7th at 7 pm, we will celebrate our 2018 student-athletes who will sign their National Letter Of Intent (NLI).
The event will take place at the Fountain Room at the San Ramon Community Center, located at 12501 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon, CA 94583.
The following San Ramon FC student-athletes are expected to sign on February 7, 2018:
February 1st is the National Letter of Intent (NLI) Signing Day for collegiate soccer programs.
In general terms, the NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution. By signing an NLI, both the student-athlete and the institution agree to the following:
- A prospective student-athlete agrees to attend the institution full-time for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters).
- The institution agrees to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters).
An important provision of the NLI program is a recruiting prohibition, which is applied after a prospective student-athlete signs the NLI.
Member institutions must stop recruitment activities of a prospective student-athlete once an NLI is signed with another institution.
