Pillars of Character: Confidence

CONFIDENCE

Confidence is a belief in yourself, your soccer team, and your collective ability that you can achieve the desired goal.  How does a youth athlete build confidence through sports?  A child can build confidence by practicing and learning skills.  Youth sports participants can also develop the mental ability to recognize mistakes as learning opportunities.

How does a youth soccer player help build confidence in their teammates? For starters, use encouraging words, positive body language, and set a good example for others to follow.

How can parents help kids build confidence? On this web page, there are links to videos, articles, and podcasts about confidence. These free resources can help parents learn about this character trait and share that information with their kids.
