San Ramon FC congratulates William Ball of San Ramon, CA on signing a letter of intent to play soccer at Oxford College of Emory University in Georgia. William grew up playing soccer in our club, most recently playing on our 2000 Boys Navy team coached by Dan Diodati. He attended Athenian High School in Danville where he also played on the school’s basketball team all four years and the school’s tennis team during his senior year.
William is looking forward to attending Oxford College of Emory University:
“Going to a small school like Oxford College of Emory allows me to really get to know my professors and have smaller class sizes for my first two years of college education before moving onto Emory University and gaining access to a major research institution.”
William played with San Ramon FC for 8 years and developed his soccer skills through training and playing with SRFC teams over the years, most recently in our competitive program with Coach Diodati. He plays center back, center midfield, and defensive center midfield positions. William dedicated a lot of time and effort to make this opportunity possible, putting in the hard work to develop his skills to play at the collegiate level.
William is currently training with San Ramon FC’s men’s team this summer to help him prepare for the collegiate soccer season in the fall.
Oxford College of Emory University is a D3 school in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NCJAA). William felt the Emory Oxford Eagles men’s soccer program was a good fit for him. “There is a strong sense of community within the team. When I met the players and coaches, I knew this was where I wanted to play.”
With only 7.6% of male soccer players advancing to play collegiate soccer*, William’s achievement is impressive. We look forward to following his collegiate career playing for the Oxford College of Emory University Eagles and adding his name to our college Alumni page in the near future.
