Congrats to Vanessa, Jaime, and their Di Bufala teammates on their achievement

These two women played on a competitive women’s futsal team with Di Bufala Sport Club for the 34th annual U.S. Futsal National Championship Tournament in New Jersey.

Congratulations to Vanessa Amaral, Jaime Turrentine, and their Di Bufala teammates on their futsal national championship!

Both Vanessa and Jaime are members of the San Ramon FC coaching staff.  This summer these two women received an invitation to join a competitive women’s futsal team with Di Bufala Sport Club, the oldest futsal club in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Di Bufala’s roster included professional futsal players from Spain and Brazil.  The team began training in preparation for the 34th annual U.S. Futsal National Championship Tournament.  The event was held from July 11 through July 14 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

Di Bufala’s team competed in the women’s open division, which featured teams from the United States, Australia, and Brazil.  Di Bufala played well, scoring the most goals and conceding the fewest out of all the teams in their division.  After 3 matches, they earned a spot in the finals against Victory SC, another Bay Area women’s team based in Redwood City.  Di Bufala took first place in a closely contested final, earning the national championship trophy for their age group with a 3-2 result.

San Ramon FC is thrilled to see its coaches take the opportunity to challenge themselves in competitive play. Jaime and Vanessa are former collegiate players who love to play soccer and futsal. Both women are often involved with local women’s teams, including San Ramon FC’s WPSL team, and competitions either on the soccer pitch or the futsal court.  Competitive play provides opportunities to have fun, make friends, learn, and grow. Coaches who learn from their own playing experiences can share their knowledge to help teach and inspire youth players.
