Mika Sayfurahman of San Ramon FC is one of 32 youth players in the United States invited to participate in the 2019 Generation Adidas International Training Program with Olympique Lyonnais Select in France. The program, held August 17-25 in Lyon, France, provides top tier players living in the United States with an exclusive girls’ soccer experience. This select program is available by invitation only and top tier Adidas youth clubs in the United State are permitted to nominate one player for consideration.
Mika will participate in training and receive professional coaching at Olympique Lyonnais, a legendary club with one of Europe’s strongest professional women’s sides. Program participants will have the opportunity to play in competitive friendly matches with teams from the Olympique Lyonnais Academy as well. The program also provides players with a visit to the renowned Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium and the possibility of attending a French Ligue 1 game.
“I’m super excited to go on the trip,” Sayfurahman said. “I’m looking forward to the training with high level coaches and a lot of high level girls.”
Mika is currently playing on San Ramon FC’s 01/02 NPL team with Coach Zlatko Tomic, who recommended her for this program. An extremely dedicated and hardworking student athlete, she makes the most of her opportunities. The 16 year old will begin her junior year at Livermore High School this fall, where she also plays on the school’s varsity soccer team.
International travel and overseas competition are not new for Sayfurahman. Mika has the distinction of being the youngest player ever to start for the Afghanistan Women’s National Team in international play. Her training with San Ramon FC and her international playing experience helped her earn an invitation to this prestigious Adidas program. San Ramon FC is excited to see her train and compete with other elite youth players in France later this month.
