Tips for high school age students to consider at the end of the year

JUNE 2020

Rising Seniors:

Before your high school closes for the year,  you should choose 2-3 teachers who you believe would write a good letter of recommendation for you to use with your college applications. Requesting a letter of recommendation before the summer break gives a teacher plenty of time to write it and they will appreciate you for being organized.

Common Application Essay Prompts:

Below is a link to the common application (CA) essay prompts for the 2020 application, which officially opens on August 1st. I highly recommend you choose your essay topic by the end of June and use the month of July to write the essay. The most common mistake with the CA essay is choosing the wrong topic. I have a company I work with that offers essay help at the rate of $125.00 per hour.  Please contact me for details at gwhitehouse@sanramonfc.com

Rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:

Before your high school closes for the summer, email your high school counselor and request an unofficial copy of your high school transcript. For those of you who do not know what these are, the transcript shows all your classes and grades by semester and should have your cumulative GPA. You want to have it ready for college coaches when they ask.

Please email me if you have any questions on any of these topics.
