SRFC players training in June with new health and safety protocols.
Q: How is the club preparing for the fall season given the COVID-19 pandemic?
A: The club is currently using new health and safety protocols with a few competitive program teams during June training sessions. These include temperature checks, social distancing, hand sanitizers, and disinfecting soccer balls, along with additional actions aimed at keeping everyone healthy and safe. These same protocols will be used by the recreational program to exceed the minimum requirements of city/county/state health directives.
Watch a video showing the NPL training with health and safety protocols.
Q: What type of training environment can we expect when the recreational program begins?
A: Our club has outlined four phases of returning to play on the field. Each return-to-play phase details what type of training and gameplay can (and cannot) be done. The NPL players currently training in June (see the previous question) are in Phase 2, at the time this article posted. City/county/state health and safety directives will determine which return-to-play phase we must use at any given time.
Read our "Return to Play" document for detailed information on each "phase" of our return-to-play planning.
Q: Who is leading the fall recreational program?
A: Shaun Collins was hired as our Recreational Program Manager earlier this year. He is an educator in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District with a passion for youth sports. His energy, effort, and enthusiasm will help the families in our program enjoy youth soccer this fall.
You can email Shaun with your questions.
Q: How are teams formed this season?
A: Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic this year, we made the decision to offer some stability for the kids in our U14-U19 age groups. Coaches returning for the 2020 season in the U14-U19 (birth years 2002-2008) age groups will have the option to request the same team that they coached in 2019. Likewise, families returning for the 2020 season in the U14-U19 age groups will receive a separate email, after registration closes, asking them if they wish to stay on the same team or prefer a new one.
In the U5-U12 (birth years 2007-2016) age groups, as in previous years, teams will be formed based on a combination of factors such as the school they will attend and their home address.
Q: What is the refund policy related to COVID-19?
A: We invite you to read the entire refund policy for our 2020 recreational program. If COVID-19 related factors cancel the recreational season before it begins, full refunds will be issued. If COVID-19 factors cause a cancelation part-way through the season, the club will review the situation to determine if it can issue partial refunds or credits to families.
Q: Can we still register for the fall season?
A: Absolutely! We would love to have your child play in the program this season. Use the registration buttons below.
