New organization is a collaboration between four Tri-Valley soccer clubs

San Ramon FC is extremely excited to announce a massive step forward for referees in the Tri-Valley area, with the formation of the East Bay Referee Association (EBRA).  EBRA is a collaboration between four Tri-Valley clubs (Ballistic United, Livermore Fusion, Pleasanton RAGE, and San Ramon FC) which will serve the referee needs for each member club.  The new organization is a CA not-for-profit and will be governed both by its member clubs and by its referee members.

The goal of the organization is to not just coordinate and deliver referees to each member club, but to fundamentally change the way clubs think about and interact with our match officials! Through this collaboration, we look forward to better serving our region through the recruitment, education, mentorship, and calculated assigning of referees.  We are committed to referee growth and development while simultaneously improving the experience for member clubs.

Each of these clubs has spent considerable time and resources to better understand the referee ecosystem, and we have brought in some of the top referee minds in Northern California to assist us in the formation of this organization.  We are blessed to have two of the top minds in soccer refereeing running the East Bay Referee Association.

Moe Shafai will serve as the organization’s General Manager and oversee all organization operations. Responsible for the oversight of daily operations, Shafai comes to EBRA as one of the most experienced referee leaders in the country.  As the Director of Referees for NorCal Premier, Moe oversees all aspects of refereeing for one of the largest soccer organizations in the country.  In addition to his experience, Moe brings an understanding of our current environment and a clear vision of where we need to go.  He is the perfect person to lead our organization and propel our innovative model to the next level.  In addition, Steve Larsen will serve as the organization’s first Lead Assignor.  Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and is currently the State Youth Referee Administrator.

For all current referees please join the new organization by visiting www.eastbayrefs.org and click on Register. In the coming months, we will have more information for new referees including licensing, training, mentoring, and assigning.
