San Ramon FC's new spring recreational 4v4 league concluded play on May 20. Playing small sided matches (without goalkeepers) on Friday afternoons this spring, youth teams enjoyed fresh air, friendly competition, and plenty of soccer. The new league asked players form their own 4v4 teams with friends and then register with a parent coach as a team.
Recreational Program Director, Shaun Collins, was pleased with the success of the inaugural spring league. The 4v4 league is something new for the recreational program. Games featured small goals, no goalkeepers, or referees. Matches were played Friday afternoons on the grass fields at Rancho San Ramon Community Park.
"The league stressed development and creativity through quick decisions, fast paced game play, and lots of touches," Collins said.
Teams that finished in first place in their age group division were awarded medals. Photos of the teams' Piranhas, Crazy Eights, Apex, Pumas, and Diablos are shown below.
When the club's fall soccer begins in August, San Ramon FC encourages families to talk to other families on their fall league teams about forming a team for the 4v4 league in the spring of 2023!
