***PREVIOUS MATCHES***

MAY 14: 3-2 Loss

For the second straight match, San Ramon FC started the scoring early. In the first 5 minutes of play, Nathaniel Carrasco scored after the team received a free kick outside the penalty box.  Unfortunately, the team also conceded a goal early too, as Cal Odyssey found the back of the net a few minutes later to level the score.

Odyssey took the lead 2-1 before Adrian Guzman brought the teams even again with a goal off a corner kick.  Set pieces were the key to San Ramon's scoring in this match. The teams remain tied until the 70th minute, when Cal Odyssey broke the stalemate, scoring for the third time.  Alas, that proved to be the game winner as San Ramon could not equalize in the final 20 minutes of the match.

MAY 6: 5-2 WIN

San Ramon FC scored early and often in an exciting 5-2 win on Saturday night vs the Oakland Stompers at Tiffany Roberts Field. These two teams last played each other on April 22 in Oakland, splitting points with a 0-0 tie.

SRFC was ready from the start, finding the back of the net in the 4th minute to taking the early 1-0 lead.  After a series of quick passes in the penalty area kept the Stompers defense off balance, San Ramon FC's Kevin Lopes finished the play with a low driving shot past the diving goalkeeper.

The Stompers found the equalizer a few minutes later to even the score 1-1 as Oakland's Nissa Hatifie scored in the 7th minute. It stayed level for while, with San Ramon moving the ball well and the Stompers seeking scoring chances with long balls that challenged the defense. The stalemate was broken in the 32nd minute as San Ramon's Luis Mendoza scored to make it 2-1.

Shortly thereafter, the Stompers went down to 10 men as the referee showed a red card for a dangerous tackle from behind.  San Ramon's Mendoza scored once more before just before half, and the team took a 3-1 lead into the break.

The Stompers cut into the lead in the 65th minute, scoring on a penalty kick, but San Ramon responded immediately with a goal by Adrian Guzman in the 66th minute to make it 4-2.  Evan Davila found the net in the 90th minute to bring the final tally to 5-2.

April 22: 0-0 TIE

The team played away on Saturday, April 22 and picked up its first point on the road in Oakland vs the Oakland Stompers. The team now has 4 points on the season after 3 games played. Both sides  in this match had scoring chances, but neither offense could find the back of the net.  The teams will square off again on May 6 in San Ramon at Tiffany Roberts Field.

April 16: 2-0 Loss

2023 NPSL Season, Match 2: Home vs. El Farolito

A pair for first half goals proved too much of a deficit for San Ramon FC's men's team to overcome on Sunday night at Tiffany Roberts Field.  The first goal came from a counter attack opportunity that saw the visitors carry the ball into the penalty box and send a shot past the dive of SRFC's goalkeeper, Roberto Llamas, who had come out to challenge the play. It proved to be the game winning goal.  El Farolito doubled their lead by making the most of a corner kick, quickly chest trapping the crossed ball in the box and sending a strong shot into the back of the net.

Unphased by the first half deficit, San Ramon re-grouped and continued to press and work for scoring opportunities. The team's two best second half chances for a goal resulted in a diving save from El Farolito's goalkeeper for a corner kick and an errant shot that soared high over the crossbar.

The men's team will play El Farolito again later this season in San Francisco and looks forward to learning from this match and competing again.

San Ramon FC returns to the pitch this Saturday seeking to collect its first points on the road. The first away match of the season is vs Oakland Stompers.  The match kicks off at 4 pm on Saturday April 22nd at Raimondi Park in Oakland.

April 1st: 2-0 Win

2023 NPSL Season, Match 1: Home vs. FC Davis

San Ramon FC started its 2023 NPSL season with a 2-0 shutout win vs FC Davis at home on Saturday, April 1st.  Playing under the lights with a 7 pm kickoff at Tiffany Roberts Field,  the team kept the visitors scoreless while finding the net twice.  Goalkeeper Roberto Llamas and the team defense earned the clean sheet.

Evan Davila scored the first goal of the season for San Ramon FC.  His game winning goal came via a terrific strike with his right foot from well outside the penalty box. Davila did well to quickly control the ball and take advantage of the space given to him by the defense. His shot dipped down and quickly skipped past the diving goalkeeper.

Bourdanne Ngongfor sealed the victory for San Ramon FC late in the final moments of the second half, showing that hustle and awareness lead to opportunity. After a miscue by the goalkeeper led to a loose ball scramble, Ngongfor swooped in to win the ball at the top of the penalty box. He nearly lost his footing in the process, but steadied himself, stayed on his feet, and fifinished the play with a crisp left footed pass into the empty net.

Take a moment to watch the videos of both goals to appreciate the skills of the players and listen to the crowd enthusiasm as the play developed leading to Ngongfor's goal. (Special thanks to San Ramon FC parent Curtis Lam for providing video footage.)
