FINANCIAL AID

The studies are clear: Participation in sports helps kids do better in school and in life. Sports teach kids the value of an active lifestyle, how to overcome adversity as well as the value of teamwork. San Ramon FC believes in the value of sport and the positive impacts that it can have on kids and the community. San Ramon FC also believes that the club can take a more active role in helping children have access and resources on their journey to becoming good citizens.

Each year San Ramon FC awards academic college scholarships to graduating seniors in the club: The Bob Loney Memorial Student Athlete Scholarships.

The scholarship program is named for Bob Loney, a much admired educator in the San Ramon community who was also a member of the club.  He taught at Windermere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon and his children played soccer at San Ramon FC.  Mr. Loney volunteered his time serving on the club's Board of Directors and also coached in the Recreational program. The club honors his memory and the positive impact he had on both students and athletes with its annual scholarship that bears his name.

College is an important step in the development of SRFC players as young men and women. The club would like to do more to support this for its membership. The club's long term goal will be to increase the amount of scholarship money San Ramon FC gives out as well as provide multi-year scholarships for deserving graduating seniors.

While the vast majority of families are able to afford the cost of playing soccer, there are many who need a little help to ensure that their kids can participate. Each year SRFC strives to give out approximately $65,000 in scholarships and financial aid. Each year SRFC is forced to turn away families in need because the funds in the financial aid program run out.
